September 25, 6 p.m. - Kastera Shadow Valley Non-Farm Subdivision to go before the Ada County Planning & Zoning Commissioners - Ada County Courthouse, 200 W. Front Street, Boise ID

October 8, 6 p.m. - Dry Creek Ranch goes before the Ada County Commissioners - Ada County Courthouse, 200 W. Front Street, Boise ID

The October 8th meeting is HUGELY important for our neighborhood. Even if you don't wish to speak, please plan to be there to show the Ada County Commissioners that the public truly does care about the foothills and development in them--and remind them that we are VOTERS. We might not have the money of developers, but we have something...the ballot box.

If you do wish to speak, some talking points for the Dry Creek Ranch meeting are as follows:

1. Traffic - far too much with this community to be supported by current roads between Dry Creek valley and Boise/Eagle/Meridian

2. Water - we don't know the amount of water in the aquifers yet, and current residents are on private wells.

3. Loss of incredibly rich agricultural land that has been farmed for 100 years

4. Loss of wildlife habitat

5. Cost to taxpayers - the Dry Creek Ranch economic study showed that this development will NOT "pay for itself" for many years, if ever. Many "conditions" have been devised to get the developer to pay for any shortfalls...but if this "developer" sells, then what happens to the promises made. We watched many promises broken by the string of Hidden Springs developers, as early ones had financial difficulties.

6. The County Commissioners promised residents of this part of the foothills that we would have a "Central Foothills Sub-Area Plan" as part of the Ada County Comprehensive Plan. DCRNA has made repeated requests to begin working on that plan, but the Commissioners now have completely reneged on their promise. See their letter to our neighborhood association here.
